Nordic Group

Blueline: the very best we have to offer

Nordic Group is already well-known in the market for its steady supply of premium grade fresh wild-caught seafood. For years, we have supplied clients with excellent, shiny fish. Now we have identified the very best of it under the Blueline label.

The graders at the packing station are our equivalent of the winemaker of a French chateau. They are experienced Norwegian artisans with a lifetime of experience in sorting fish. The very top grading from the best boats will now be selected as Blueline fish. The result is shiny packed fish that we can truly say to be above and beyond E-quality.

We are proud to say that the supply of Blueline fish will not be steady. –A truly gourmet product rarely is. It is at the mercy of the seasons, weather and the condition of the fish.  Our only promise is that we will never put the label on fish that does not deserve it.

Setting the Standard

It is the experience and finesse of our graders that makes Blueline really stand apart. However, we do of course have technical criteria as a basis for selecting what fish can carry the label.

  • All  Blueline fish is caught live by longline, handline or traps.
  • Fish is bled and gutted immediately on board.
  • Fish is packed shiny immediately after catch, at maximum 12 hours.
  • Fish must have a flawless appearance with an even skin colour, and no marks from catching gear.
  • Cuts in the fish must have white flesh, without visible blood. Blood vessels in belly cannot contain blood.
  • Fish cannot have visible parasites.
  • Fish must be transported at 0-2 oC throughout the whole supply chain.

We are looking forward to rolling out several species of fish marked with our Blueline brand throughout this season. Stay tuned!

Variety of quality products

Frozen Fish

After more than 40 years as a supplier of frozen fish and seafood to the HoReCa and Industry segments in Europe and USA, we are proud to have added global sourcing to our traditional supply from Norway.

Our customers can continue to rely on us for Norwegian products and at the same time explore our new supply from Canada, China and Russia. We have taken our experience in sourcing locally in Norway to a global network of producers willing to help us satisfy the increasing demand from our customers for products of the highest quality.

Long leading supplier of fish blocks from Norway to the processing industry in Europe, we have also expanded upon our ability to source specialty products for the HoReCa segment by offering new species and new product forms. We offer custom packing and we adapt the product form according to the requirements of the market.

Our standard product range includes IQF fillets, loins, portions and tails of the species listed below.

Fresh Fish

Since we joined forces with Njord Seafood in December 2008, and all sales were transferred to Nordic Group, fresh fish has become our most important product category.

Our products cover a wide range of species of whole fresh whitefish, packed in standard boxes and graded according to EU- regulations. Our fresh loins and fillets are recognized as the leading brand in the trade for quality and consistency.

Superior fresh and frozen whitefish

Quality

Nordic Group supplies a variety of superior products from fish harvested or farm raised along Norway’s extensive coastline. Our sourcing abroad is from fish landed fresh to the processors we have selected to partner with.

Our fresh fish supply is based on daily catches brought in by small and medium size fishing vessels – most often caught by long line or jigging – ensuring our customers the highest quality raw material.

The processing of our products is done in modern facilities - well equipped to meet the standards set by our customers – guaranteeing customer satisfaction every time. With immediate processing and good logistics we bring the highest quality fresh and frozen products to market all across Europe.

Sustainability

To maintain high quality, safe and consistent sources of seafood, a healthy environment is essential. Nordic Group strives to be a responsible global citizen. We follow through on this commitment by partnering with suppliers engaged in fisheries based upon the principles of long-term sustainable harvesting.

We firmly believe that the Norwegian management of our fishery resources is built upon these principles and that we are working with products from sustainable resources.

Norwegian Saithe has recently been certified by the Marine Stewardship Council and it is expected that other species and fisheries will follow soon.

Traceability

We offer full traceability on our products and can meet all demands for this from our customers. It is important to us to provide accurate and reliable information so our customers and consumers will know that all our products are safe and from legal catch.

Continuity, quality and variety

Nordic Group is a leading exporter of fresh and frozen seafood products from Norway. Building on the experiences from a privately owned export company for fresh whitefish and wild salmon since 1935, Nordic Group was established in 1967 as a cooperative for export sales, owned and actively supported by fillet producers from along the coast of northern Norway.

In 1996 the company became a corporation and new shareholders joined in the effort to strengthen Nordic Group AS for further growth. The major markets for the company are now in Europe and USA with sourcing in Norway, Russia, Eastern Europe, Canada, Chile and China.

In 1978 our subsidiary, Nordic Group, Inc. was established in Boston, USA, with a view to increase the sales and marketing of frozen Norwegian fillet products in the North American market. During the last few years Nordic Group Inc., has expanded considerably with extensive sourcing of frozen seafood products globally, and is now one of the main pillars of our distribution network.

During the last decade the focus of the business has been on products for the HoReCa and retail sectors, and the company has gradually made substantial inroads into the British and French markets.

Fresh white fish fillets and loins have been added to our sales to European markets. Following three years of close cooperation with Njord Seafood AS the companies merged all activities into Nordic Group AS in December 2008. This move will increase the sale of fresh fish to more than 60% of total turnover in 2009.

In the USA new species and new origins have been essential to our growth in recent years. European and Canadian Lakefish products have joined Cod, Haddock and Atlantic Salmon as our main species sold into the market for foodservice.

Please take a look at our product presentation in the following pages and let us know where we might be able to do some business together.

Our sales team is experienced, motivated and ready to do business with you.
